What's wrong

THE ASSEMBLY THAT CONNECTS THE STEERING SHAFT TO THE STEERING GEAR HAS A LOOSE CONNECTION WHICH ALLOWS EXCESSIVE PLAY IN THE STEERING WHEEL.

The fix

IF THE COMPONENTS ARE FOUND TO BE LOOSE, A STEERING SPROCKET AND YOKE ASSEMBLY WILL BE REPLACED. IF THE SPLINES OF THE STEERING GEAR INPUT SHAFT ARE WORN, THE SHAFT WILL ALSO BE REPLACED.

VEHICLE DESCRIPTION: TRUCKS, SERIES 3600 AND 3400.SYSTEM: STEERING; SHAFT.CONSEQUENCES OF DEFECT: THIS CONDITION COULD CAUSE LOSS OF STEERING CONTROL,RESULTING IN AN ACCIDENT.
