What's wrong
THE VEHICLES WERE ASSEMBLED WITHOUT THE RETAINING CLIP WHICH IS NEEDED TO KEEP THE CLUTCH CABLE FROM CONTACTING THE MASTER CYLINDER BRAKE PIPE. OVER AN EXTENDED TIME, THE CLUTCH CABLE COULD RUB THROUGH THE MASTER CYLINDER BRAKE PIPE, RESULTING IN A BRAKE FLUID LEAK AND LOSS OF FRONT BRAKES.
The fix
THE MISSING CLUTCH CABLE CLIP WILL BE INSTALLED AND THE BRAKE PIPE WILL BE REPLACED, IF NECESSARY, AT NO COST TO THE OWNER.
VEHICLE DESCRIPTION: PASSENGER VEHICLES EQUIPPED WITH MANUAL TRANSMISSIONS.SYSTEM: POWER TRAIN; CLUTCH CABLE CLIP.CONSEQUENCES OF DEFECT: THE REMAINING PORTION OF THE DUAL BRAKING SYSTEM WILLENABLE THE VEHICLE TO STOP, BUT THE STOPPING DISTANCE WILL BE INCREASED WITHOUTPRIOR WARNING. THIS COULD RESULT IN AN ACCIDENT.
Vehicles covered by this recall
Whether a particular car is affected and still unrepaired depends on its VIN — a model year being listed does not mean every car of that year is included. Check any VIN free on CarLogs, or at nhtsa.gov/recalls.
Is this car's recall fixed?
Recall repairs are free at any franchised dealer, for the life of the vehicle. A CarLogs report shows the recall status for a specific VIN as reported by the manufacturer — whether it's open or repaired, and whether the fix is available yet.
