Recall 85V057000

Steering › Linkages › Drag › Link › Connection — Mack · reported 3 May 1985 · 52 vehicles potentially affected

What's wrong

THE DRAG LINKS MAY HAVE BEEN INSTALLED INCORRECTLY ALLOWING DRAG LINK CLAMP BOLT TO AXLE BEAM INTERFERENCE. CONSEQUENCE OF DEFECT: DURING A TURNING MANEUVER, INCREASED STEERING EFFORT OR COMPLETE LOCKUP OF STEERING COULD OCCUR WITHOUT WARNING. THIS COULD RESULT IN LOSS OF TRUCK CONTROL AND A CRASH.

The fix

ASSURE THAT DRAG LINKS ARE INSTALLED TO CORRECT INTERFERENCE CONDITION.

VEHICLE DESCRIPTION: HEAVY DUTY TRUCKS WITH DUAL STEERING SYSTEMS. SYSTEM: STEERING DRAG LINKS.

Is this car's recall fixed?

Recall repairs are free at any franchised dealer, for the life of the vehicle. A CarLogs report shows the recall status for a specific VIN as reported by the manufacturer — whether it's open or repaired, and whether the fix is available yet.
