Recall 85V065000

Wheels › Hubcap/cover — BMW · reported 22 May 1985 · 40 vehicles potentially affected

What's wrong

INCORRECT MACHINING OF THE SEATING SURFACE OF THE WHEELS WHERE IT CONTACTS THE HUB OF THE CAR MAY PREVENT THE WHEELS FROM MOUNTING SECURELY TO THE HUB. THIS MAY CAUSE THE WHEEL TO BREAK AND COULD FALL OFF. CONSEQUENCE OF DEFECT: THE WHEELS COULD LOOSEN AND A CRASH COULD OCCUR. OWNERS SHOULD NOT DRIVE THEIR CARS UNTIL REPAIR WORK HAS BEEN DONE.

The fix

SCRAPE THE CENTER BORE OF THE RIM SO IT CAN CLEAR THE CENTER OF THE HUB.

VEHICLE DESCRIPTION: PASSENGER CARS EQUIPPED WITH TRX 220/55 VR 390 ALLOY WHEELS MANUFACTURED BY FUCHS. THESE WHEELS CAN BE IDENTIFIED BY A STYLIZED FOXHEAD LOGO.SYSTEM: WHEELS.

Is this car's recall fixed?

Recall repairs are free at any franchised dealer, for the life of the vehicle. A CarLogs report shows the recall status for a specific VIN as reported by the manufacturer — whether it's open or repaired, and whether the fix is available yet.
