Recall 85V085000

Service Brakes, Air › Supply › Hoses, Lines/piping, And Fittings — Chevrolet, GMC · reported 2 Jul 1985 · 624 vehicles potentially affected

What's wrong

THE FRONT AIR BRAKE HOSE MAY CONTACT THE INNER FENDER ON THE LEFT AND/OR RIGHT SIDES OF SOME TRUCKS. IN SOME INSTANCES, THE BRAKE HOSE MAY RUB THROUGH, RESULTING IN A LOSS OF AIR PRESSURE UPON BRAKE APPLICATION. CONSEQUENCE OF DEFECT: BRAKE HOSE MAY RUB THROUGH CAUSING AIR PRESSURE LOSS WHEN BRAKES ARE APPLIED AND REDUCED BRAKING ABILITY. A REDUCTION OF BRAKING ABILITY AT A TIME WHEN MINIMUM STOPPING DISTANCE IS REQUIRED COULD RESULT IN A VEHICLE CRASH WITHOUT PRIOR WARNING.

The fix

INSTALL NEW BRAKE CHAMBER SUPPORT BRACKETS, BRAKE LINE ELBOWS, AND AIR BRAKE HOSES, AS NECESSARY.

VEHICLE DESCRIPTION: MEDIUM DUTY TRUCKS EQUIPPED WITH TILT HOODS, 7000# FRONT AXLE AND AIR BRAKES.SYSTEM: FRONT BRAKE HOSE.

Is this car's recall fixed?

Recall repairs are free at any franchised dealer, for the life of the vehicle. A CarLogs report shows the recall status for a specific VIN as reported by the manufacturer — whether it's open or repaired, and whether the fix is available yet.
