Recall 85V111000

Wheels › Multi Piece — Rbr · reported 16 Sep 1985 · 148 vehicles potentially affected

What's wrong

DUAL REAR WHEEL ASSEMBLIES MAY FAIL DUE TO AN INADEQUATE ADAPTER WHICH MAY CAUSE AN AXLE TO BREAK, AND IMPROPER MAINTENANCE OF TORQUE ON THE LUG NUTS WHICH MAY CAUSE THE WHEEL STUDS TO BREAK. CONSEQUENCE OF DEFECT: CONTINUED USE OF THESE WHEELS MAY CAUSE SERIOUS DAMAGE AND POSSIBLY AN ACCIDENT.

The fix

REPLACE DUAL REAR WHEEL ASSEMBLIES AND MOUNT EXISTING TIRES ON RIMS THAT ARE CURRENTLY BEING USED. ALSO, PROVIDE STICKERS TO BE PLACED IN A CONSPICUOUS LOCATION TO EMPHASIZE THE NECESSITY TO FOLLOW THE RECOMMENDED TORQUE PROCEDURE.

Is this car's recall fixed?

Recall repairs are free at any franchised dealer, for the life of the vehicle. A CarLogs report shows the recall status for a specific VIN as reported by the manufacturer — whether it's open or repaired, and whether the fix is available yet.
