Recall 85V113000

Service Brakes, Air — Mack · reported 17 Sep 1985 · 5,020 vehicles potentially affected

What's wrong

THE DUAL DOUBLE CHECK VALVE MAY NOT RELEASE THE PROPER AIR VOLUME TO THE BRAKE SYSTEM, CAUSING A SLIGHT TIMING DELAY BETWEEN THE TRACTOR AND THE TRAILER BRAKE SYSTEM. CONSEQUENCES OF DEFECT: IF THE BRAKES ARE SUDDENLY APPLIED, THE TRAILER COULD JACKKNIFE WITHOUT WARNING TO THE OPERATOR, WHICH COULD RESULT IN A VEHICLE CRASH.

The fix

INSTALL TWO NEW SLEEVES IN THE DUAL DOUBLE CHECK VALVE WHICH WILL INCREASE AIR FLOW.

VEHICLE DESCRIPTION: HEAVY DUTY TRACTOR TRAILER COMBINATIONS. SYSTEM: BRAKES, TRACTOR TO TRAILER.

Is this car's recall fixed?

Recall repairs are free at any franchised dealer, for the life of the vehicle. A CarLogs report shows the recall status for a specific VIN as reported by the manufacturer — whether it's open or repaired, and whether the fix is available yet.
