Recall 85V133000

Parking Brake › Driveline — International Harvester · reported 22 Oct 1985 · 2,784 vehicles potentially affected

What's wrong

THE PARKING BRAKES MAY HAVE CRACKS IN THE BRAKE ACTUATING CAM AND LEVER OF THE BRAKE ASSEMBLY. FAILURE OF THE CRACKED PART FROM REPEATED BRAKE APPLICATIONS WILL CAUSE THE PARKING BRAKES TO BE INOPERATIVE. CONSEQUENCE OF DEFECT: PARKING BRAKE FAILURE COULD OCCUR AFTER THE BRAKE HAS BEEN SET AND THE VEHICLE IS LEFT UNATTENDED. IN THIS SITUATION, THE PARKED VEHICLE COULD ROLL AWAY AND CRASH WITHOUT PRIOR WARNING.

The fix

REPLACE CAM AND LEVER ASSEMBLY OF PARK BRAKE.

Is this car's recall fixed?

Recall repairs are free at any franchised dealer, for the life of the vehicle. A CarLogs report shows the recall status for a specific VIN as reported by the manufacturer — whether it's open or repaired, and whether the fix is available yet.
