What's wrong

THE SPLINED STEERING SHAFT MAY NOT BE SUFFICIENTLY ENGAGED AS DESIGNED DUE TO INACCURATE DRILLING OF THE HOLES IN THE FRAME TO WHICH THE CAB FRONT MOUNT MEMBER IS BOLTED. CONSEQUENCE OF DEFECT: A JARRING IMPACT MIGHT CAUSE DISENGAMENT OF THE SPLINED SHAFT RESULTING IN LOSS OF STEERING CONTROL AND POSSIBLY AN ACCIDENT.

The fix

REPLACE SHAFTS WHICH MEASURE UNDER THE MINIMUM ENGAGEMENT DIMENSIONS WITH LONGER SHAFT.

SYSTEM: STEERING SHAFT. VEHICLE DESCRIPTION: FIRE TRUCKS.

Is this car's recall fixed?

Recall repairs are free at any franchised dealer, for the life of the vehicle. A CarLogs report shows the recall status for a specific VIN as reported by the manufacturer — whether it's open or repaired, and whether the fix is available yet.
