Recall 85V165000

Structure › Body › Door — Neoplan · reported 18 Dec 1985 · 54 vehicles potentially affected

What's wrong

AN INDUCTIVE VOLTAGE SPIKE MAY AFFECT THE REAR DOOR TIME DELAY RELAY IN A MANNER WHICH CAUSES THE MAGNETIC BRAKE VALVE TO ENERGIZE. WHEN THIS VALVE IS ENERGIZED THE BUS BRAKES ARE APPLIED. CONSEQUENCE OF DEFECT: IF THIS OCCURS WHEN THE BUS IS IN MOTION, THE BUS WILL BRAKE UNEXPECTEDLY WITHOUT ANY ACTION FROM THE OPERATOR AND MAY CAUSE INJURIES TO ITS OCCUPANTS OR CAUSE AN ACCIDENT.

The fix

INSTALL A NEW REAR DOOR TIME DELAY RELAY TO PREVENT BRAKES FROM BEING ACTIVATED AT THE WRONG TIME.

SYSTEM:REAR DOOR TIME DELAY RELAY.VEHICLE DESCRIPTION:BUSES WITH PRINTED CIRCUIT BOARDS AND CONTAINING REAR DOOR TIME DELAY RELAY.

Is this car's recall fixed?

Recall repairs are free at any franchised dealer, for the life of the vehicle. A CarLogs report shows the recall status for a specific VIN as reported by the manufacturer — whether it's open or repaired, and whether the fix is available yet.
