Recall 86V036000

Electrical System › Wiring › Interior/under Dash — Cadillac · reported 6 Mar 1986 · 8,667 vehicles potentially affected

What's wrong

A WIRING HARNESS LOCATED UNDER THE INSTRUMENT PANEL MAY NOT HAVE BEEN PROPERLY SECURED IN ITS RETAINER AND COULD INTERFERE WITH THE ACCELERATOR LEVER. CONSEQUENCE OF DEFECT: THIS COULD PREVENT THE THROTTLE FROM RETURNING TO THE CLOSED (IDLE) POSITION WHEN THE ACCELERATOR PEDAL IS RELEASED, AND RESULT IN LOSS OF ACCELERATOR CONTROL AND A POSSIBLE VEHICLE CRASH WITHOUT PRIOR WARNING.

The fix

SECURE WIRING IN ITS RETAINER.

SYSTEM: WIRING HARNESS/ACCELERATOR LEVER. VEHICLE DESCRIPTION: PASSENGER CARS EQUIPPED WITH 5.0L V-8 ENGINES.

Is this car's recall fixed?

Recall repairs are free at any franchised dealer, for the life of the vehicle. A CarLogs report shows the recall status for a specific VIN as reported by the manufacturer — whether it's open or repaired, and whether the fix is available yet.
