Recall 86V043000

Service Brakes, Hydraulic › Pedals And Linkages — Hyundai · reported 17 Mar 1986 · 8,197 vehicles potentially affected

What's wrong

A COTTER PIN IN THE BRAKE PEDAL TO BRAKE MASTER CYLINDER LINKAGE ASSEMBLY MAY BE MISSING. THIS PIN ACTS AS A RETAINER FOR THE BRAKE MASTER CYLINDER PUSHROD CLEVIS PIN. CONSEQUENCE OF DEFECT: THE CLEVIS PIN MAY SLIDE OUT CAUSING THE MASTER CYLINDER/BRAKE PEDAL LINKAGE TO BECOME DISENGAGED. IF THIS LINKAGE BECOMES DISENGAGED THE SERVICE BRAKES CANNOT BE APPLIED, CREATING THE RISK OF A CRASH WITHOUT PRIOR WARNING.

The fix

INSPECT AND INSTALL BRAKE LINKAGE COTTER PIN AS NECESSARY.

SYSTEM: BRAKE LINKAGE COTTER PIN. VEHICLE DESCRIPTION: PASSENGER CARS.

Is this car's recall fixed?

Recall repairs are free at any franchised dealer, for the life of the vehicle. A CarLogs report shows the recall status for a specific VIN as reported by the manufacturer — whether it's open or repaired, and whether the fix is available yet.
