Recall 86V050000

Exterior Lighting › Headlights — Volvo · reported 1 Apr 1986 · 1,206 vehicles potentially affected

What's wrong

TRUCKS WERE BUILT WITH HEADLAMPS WIRING HARNESSES WHICH MAY HAVE THE "UPPER BEAM"/"LOWER BEAM" WIRES REVERSED. THIS CAUSES THE TRUCKS NOT TO BE IN COMPLIANCE WITH FMVSS 108. CONSEQUENCE OF DEFECT: LAMPS WOULD USE THE UPPER BEAM FILAMENT WHEN OPERATED IN THE LOWER BEAM MODE. THIS MAY CAUSE VISUAL PROBLEMS TO THE ONCOMING DRIVER AND MAY LEAD TO AN ACCIDENT.

The fix

REPAIR HEADLAMP WIRING TO ASSURE COMFORMANCE WITH FMVSS 108.

SYSTEM: HEADLAMPS/FMVSS 108.VEHICLE DESCRIPTION: HEAVY DUTY TRUCKS 26,000 LBS. GVWR AND GREATER.

Is this car's recall fixed?

Recall repairs are free at any franchised dealer, for the life of the vehicle. A CarLogs report shows the recall status for a specific VIN as reported by the manufacturer — whether it's open or repaired, and whether the fix is available yet.
