Parking Brake › Conventional — Ford · reported 14 Apr 1986 · 1,250 vehicles potentially affected

What's wrong

IMPROPERLY HEAT TREATED STEEL ROLLERS USED IN THE REAR WHEEL PARKING BRAKE SYSTEM CAUSES THE ROLLERS TO BECOME BRITTLE AND MAY FRACTURE. CONSEQUENCE OF DEFECT: ROLLERS COULD FRACTURE WHEN THE PARKING BRAKES ARE SET, RESULTING IN REDUCTION OR COMPLETE LOSS OF PARKING BRAKE HOLDING CAPABILITY, WHICH MAY LEAD TO AN ACCIDENT.

The fix

REPLACE WEDGE BETWEEN ROLLERS AND ROLLERS ASSEMBLIES.

SYSTEM: PARKING BRAKE.VEHICLE DESCRIPTION: CHASSIS CABS EQUIPPED WITH STANDARD AIR OVER HYDRAULIC BRAKES.

Is this car's recall fixed?

Recall repairs are free at any franchised dealer, for the life of the vehicle. A CarLogs report shows the recall status for a specific VIN as reported by the manufacturer — whether it's open or repaired, and whether the fix is available yet.
