Steering › Linkages › Drag › Link › Connection — Mack · reported 27 May 1986 · 200 vehicles potentially affected

What's wrong

THE DRAG LINK TO PITMAN ARM TOGGLE ANGLE MAY BE GREATER THAN DESIGN CRITERIA, AND MAY CAUSE THE STEERING TO BIND. CONSEQUENCE OF DEFECT: IF TRUCK NEGOTIATES EXTREME RIGHT HAND TURN THE LEFT FRONT WHEEL DROPS INTO A DEEP HOLE, STEERING RETURN WOULD BE SLOW, WITHOUT WARNING TO OPERATOR, CREATING POTENTIAL FOR A VEHICLE CRASH.

The fix

REPLACE LEFT HAND STEERING LEVER.

SYSTEM: STEERING. VEHICLE DESCRIPTION: HEAVY DUTY TRUCKS EQUIPPED WITH FA(W)617 FRONT AXLE AND20,000 LB. TAPERLEAF SPRINGS.

Is this car's recall fixed?

Recall repairs are free at any franchised dealer, for the life of the vehicle. A CarLogs report shows the recall status for a specific VIN as reported by the manufacturer — whether it's open or repaired, and whether the fix is available yet.
