NHTSA safety recall

Recall 87V034000

Visibility › Windshield — Oldsmobile, Pontiac · reported 16 Mar 1987 · 39 vehicles potentially affected

What's wrong

POOR BOND ADHESION BETWEEN THE WINDSHIELD GLASS AND MOUNTING COULD ALLOW THE WINDSHIELD TO SEPARATE DURING A 30 MPH FRONTAL BARRIER TEST REQUIRED BY FMVSS 212.

The risk

IF WINDSHIELD GLASS SEPARATION OCCURS DURING ANACCIDENT, AN UNBELTED OCCUPANT COULD BE EJECTED FROM THE VEHICLE AND INJURED.

The fix

REINSTALL WINDSHIELDS TO ASSURE PROPER BOND ADHESION.

SYSTEM: WINDSHIELD/FMVSS 212.VEHICLE DESCRIPTION: PASSENGER CARS.

Is this car's recall fixed?

Recall repairs are free at any franchised dealer, for the life of the vehicle. A CarLogs report shows the recall status for a specific VIN as reported by the manufacturer — whether it's open or repaired, and whether the fix is available yet.
