Service Brakes, Hydraulic › Pedals And Linkages — Land Rover · reported 31 Jan 1989 · 3,972 vehicles potentially affected

What's wrong

INCORRECT INSTALLATION OF A CIRCLIP HOLDING THE BRAKE PEDAL PIVOT SHAFT COULD ALLOW THE CIRCLIP TO DISENGAGE AND THE PIVOT SHAFT TO MOVE ENOUGH FOR THE BRAKE PEDAL TO MOVE FROM ITS DESIGNED POSITION.

The risk

ALTHOUGH FULL BRAKING ACTION CAN STILL BE OBTAINED,DRIVER ALARM FROM THE INCORRECTLY POSITIONED PEDAL COULD RESULT IN ANINAPPROPRIATE ACTION BY THE DRIVER WHICH COULD CAUSE AN ACCIDENT.

The fix

REPAIR CIRCLIP INSTALLATION TO PREVENT ITS DISENGAGEMENT.

Is this car's recall fixed?

Recall repairs are free at any franchised dealer, for the life of the vehicle. A CarLogs report shows the recall status for a specific VIN as reported by the manufacturer — whether it's open or repaired, and whether the fix is available yet.
