Recall 89V209000
Service Brakes, Hydraulic › Foundation Components › Hoses, Lines/piping, And Fittings — Marmon · reported 29 Nov 1989 · 3,970 vehicles potentially affected
What's wrong
NON-DOT "PUSH-ON" TYPE HOSES WERE USED IN CERTAIN ACCESSORY NON-BRAKE AIR SYSTEMS, WITHOUT ISOLATION OF THAT SYSTEM BY A CHECK VALVE, PRESSURE PROTECTION VALVE, OR OTHER MEANS OF SYSTEM SEPARATION.
The risk
TRUCKS DO NOT COMPLY WITH FMVSS 106; THERE COULD BE ANUNCHECKED LOSS OF AIR PRESSURE IN THE BRAKES THAT COULD RESULT IN THE LOSS OFSERVICE BRAKES AND TRUCK CONTROL.
The fix
INSTALL PRESSURE PROTECTION VALVE(S) IN THE AIR SYSTEM TO ISOLATE ALL ACCESSORY AIR LINES FROM THE BRAKE SYSTEM.
SYSTEM: AIR BRAKE HOSES / FMVSS 106VEHICLE DESCRIPTION: COMVENTIONAL AND COE TRUCKS.
Vehicles covered by this recall
Whether a particular car is affected and still unrepaired depends on its VIN — a model year being listed does not mean every car of that year is included. Check any VIN free on CarLogs, or at nhtsa.gov/recalls.
Is this car's recall fixed?
Recall repairs are free at any franchised dealer, for the life of the vehicle. A CarLogs report shows the recall status for a specific VIN as reported by the manufacturer — whether it's open or repaired, and whether the fix is available yet.
