Recall 90V005000

Engine And Engine Cooling › Engine — Kawasaki · reported 24 Jan 1990 · 200 vehicles potentially affected

What's wrong

MISMACHINING OF LOWER CRANKCASE HAS CAUSED THE OIL FILTER CASE TO BE POSITIONED INCORRECTLY. THIS MISALIGNMENT STRESSES THE OIL AND WATER PUMPS AND COULD CAUSE ONE OR THE OTHER TO FAIL.

The risk

FAILURE OF THE OIL PUMP OR WATER PUMP DRIVES COULD CAUSE EXTENSIVE INTERNAL ENGINE DAMAGE AND FAILURE DUE TO LACK OF LUBRICATION OR COOLING WHICH COULD RESULT IN LOSS OF VEHICLE CONTROL.

The fix

CORRECT LOWER CRANKSHAFT MISMACHINING TO PREVENT ENGINE DAMAGE.

SYSTEM: ENGINE CRANKSHFT. VEHICLE DESCRIPTION: MOTORCYCLES.

Is this car's recall fixed?

Recall repairs are free at any franchised dealer, for the life of the vehicle. A CarLogs report shows the recall status for a specific VIN as reported by the manufacturer — whether it's open or repaired, and whether the fix is available yet.
