NHTSA safety recall

Recall 90V038000

Latches/locks/linkages › Hood › Latch — Hyundai · reported 21 Feb 1990 · 39,361 vehicles potentially affected

What's wrong

INSUFFICIENT CLEARANCE COULD CAUSE THE SAFETY CATCH ON THE SECONDARY HOOD LATCH STRIKER TO BIND.

The risk

IF PRIMARY LATCH IS RELEASED OR IF HOOD IS NOT COMPLETELY CLOSED, HOOD COULD FLY OPEN WHILE VEHICLE IS IN MOTION; THIS WOULD BLOCK DRIVER'S VISION AND COULD RESULT IN AN ACCIDENT.

The fix

REPLACE HOOD LATCH STRIKER ASSEMBLY.

SYSTEM: SECONDARY HOOD LATCH.VEHICLE DESCRIPTION: PASSENGER CARS.

Is this car's recall fixed?

Recall repairs are free at any franchised dealer, for the life of the vehicle. A CarLogs report shows the recall status for a specific VIN as reported by the manufacturer — whether it's open or repaired, and whether the fix is available yet.
