Recall 91V030000

Seat Belts › Front › Retractor — Am General · reported 19 Feb 1991 · 10,285 vehicles potentially affected

What's wrong

AUTOMATIC SHOULDER BELT RETRACTION MECHANISM DOES NOT FULLY RETRACT THE BELT AFTER IT IS EXTENDED, EITHER BY MOVEMENT OF THE UPPER TORSO OR AFTER REMOVAL BY OCCUPANT.

The risk

SEAT BELT SHOULDER HARNESS WOULD NOT PROVIDE ADEQUATEPROTECTION TO OCCUPANT IN A VEHICLE CRASH.

The fix

REPLACE THE WASHER BETWEEN THE SHOULDER BOLT AND UPPER MOUNTING BRACKET WITH SMALLER WASHER; THIS WILL ALLOW RETRACTOR TO OPERATE.

SYSTEM: SEAT BELTS SHOULDER HARNESS.DESCRIPTION OF VEHICLE: MILITARY VEHICLE; "HUMMER".

Is this car's recall fixed?

Recall repairs are free at any franchised dealer, for the life of the vehicle. A CarLogs report shows the recall status for a specific VIN as reported by the manufacturer — whether it's open or repaired, and whether the fix is available yet.
