Recall 91V125000

Service Brakes, Air › Antilock — Labrie · reported 24 Jul 1991 · 519 vehicles potentially affected

What's wrong

THE PRIMARY SERVICE BRAKE SYSTEM AND THE AUXILIARY BRAKE SYSTEMS ARE FED BY A SINGLE CIRCUIT WHICH MAY RENDER THE EMERGENCY BRAKE SYSTEM INOPERATIVE IF THE PRIMARY BRAKE CIRCUIT FAILS; TRUCKS DO NOT COMPLY WITH FMVSS 121.

The risk

IN THE EVENT OF A PRIMARY BRAKE CIRCUIT FAILURE, THETRUCK WOULD BE UNABLE TO USE AUXILIARY BRAKING TO STOP, WHICH COULD RESULT IN AVEHICLE CRASH.

The fix

INSTALL HARDWARE TO ENSURE THE EMERGENCY BRAKE SYSTEM WORKS INDEPENDENTLY OF THE PRIMARY BRAKE SYSTEM.

SYSTEM: AIR BRAKES; FMVSS 121.VEHICLE DESCRIPTION: REFUSE COLLECTION TRUCK.

Is this car's recall fixed?

Recall repairs are free at any franchised dealer, for the life of the vehicle. A CarLogs report shows the recall status for a specific VIN as reported by the manufacturer — whether it's open or repaired, and whether the fix is available yet.
