Recall 92V136000

Trailer Hitches › Fifth Wheel Assembly — Utility · reported 18 Sep 1992 · 320 vehicles potentially affected

What's wrong

AN INADEQUATE WELD SIZE AT THE INTERSECTION OF A 3/8 INCH VERTICAL ANGLE AND A 1/4 INCH DIAGONAL ANGLE NEAR THE BOTTOM ON THE PINTLE HOOK PLATE ASSEMBLY COULD FAIL.

The risk

WELD FAILURE COULD RESULT IN SEPARATION OF THE REARPOTION OF THE PINTLE PLATE FROM THE LEAD TRAILER, WHICH COULD CAUSE THE TOWEDTRAILER TO CRASH WITHOUT WARNING.

The fix

REWELD AND REINFORCE THE JOINT ON THE PINTLE HOOK.

SYSTEM: STRUCTURE: BOGIE OR SLIDING TANDEM.VEHICLE DESCRIPTION: FLATBED TRAILER.

Is this car's recall fixed?

Recall repairs are free at any franchised dealer, for the life of the vehicle. A CarLogs report shows the recall status for a specific VIN as reported by the manufacturer — whether it's open or repaired, and whether the fix is available yet.
