Recall 94V166000
Equipment › Other › Labels — Hyundai · reported 1 Sep 1994 · 4,842 vehicles potentially affected
What's wrong
THE TIRE INFLATION PRESSURE LABEL AFFIXED TO THE LEFT REAR DOOR STATES THAT THE VEHICLE CAPACITY IS "1,100 POUNDS". THIS INFORMATION IS INCORRECT. THE CORRECT VEHICLE CAPACITY WEIGHT IS 860 POUNDS. THIS DOES NOT CONFORM TO THE REQUIREMENTS OF FMVSS NO. 110, "TIRE SELECTION AND RIMS."
The risk
CONSEQUENCE OF NON-COMPLIANCE: LOADING OF THE VEHICLE BEYOND THE CAPACITY WEIGHT CAN CAUSE TIRE AND VEHICLE DAMAGE THAT CAN RESULT IN A VEHICLE CRASH.
The fix
HYUNDAI WILL PROVIDE OWNERS WITH A NEW LABEL SHOWING THE CORRECT VEHICLE CAPACITY WEIGHT WITH INSTRUCTIONS FOR APPLICATION.
SYSTEM: EQUIPMENT; TIRE RESERVE LOAD LABEL.VEHICLE DESCRIPTION: PASSENGER CARS.NOTE: IF YOUR VEHICLE IS PRESENTED TO AN AUTHORIZED DEALER ON AN AGREED UPON SERVICE DATE AND THE REMEDY IS NOT PROVIDED FREE OF CHARGE WITHIN A REASONABLE TIME OR THE REMEDY DOES NOT CORRECT THE NONCOMPLIANCE, PLEASE CONTACT HYUNDAI AT 1-800-829-9956. ALSO, CONTACT THE NATIONAL HIGHWAY TRAFFIC SAFETY ADMINISTRATION'S AUTO SAFETY HOTLINE AT 1-800-424-9393.
Vehicles covered by this recall
Whether a particular car is affected and still unrepaired depends on its VIN — a model year being listed does not mean every car of that year is included. Check any VIN free on CarLogs, or at nhtsa.gov/recalls.
Is this car's recall fixed?
Recall repairs are free at any franchised dealer, for the life of the vehicle. A CarLogs report shows the recall status for a specific VIN as reported by the manufacturer — whether it's open or repaired, and whether the fix is available yet.
