Recall 94V207000
Seat Belts › Front — Tiara · reported 26 Oct 1994 · 2,419 vehicles potentially affected
What's wrong
THE SAFETY BELT LENGTH DOES NOT MEET THE REQUIREMENTS TO FIT A 95TH PERCENTILE DUMMY IN THE DRIVER'S SEAT POSITION IF THE SEAT IS IN FULL FORWARD POSITION. THIS DOES NOT COMPLY WITH THE REQUIREMENTS OF FMVSS NO. 208, "OCCUPANT CRASH PROTECTION."
The risk
CONSEQUENCE OF NON-COMPLIANCE: LARGE PERSONS IN THE DRIVER'S SEAT WOULD BE EXPOSED TO INCREASED RISK OF INJURY IN A SUDDEN STOP OR CRASH.
The fix
DEALERS WILL REPLACE THE SHORTER SAFETY BELT WITH A LONGER BELT THAT OFFERS THE PROTECTION SET FORTH IN THE STANDARD.
SYSTEM: INTERIOR SYSTEMS; SEAT BELTS; LAP; FRONT.VEHICLE DESCRIPTION: CHEVROLET AND GMC CONVERSION VANS.NOTE: IF THE VEHICLE IS PRESENTED TO AN AUTHORIZED DEALER ON AN AGREED UPON SERVICE DATE AND THE REMEDY IS NOT PROVIDED FREE OF CHARGE WITHIN A REASONABLE TIME OR THE REMEDY DOES NOT CORRECT THE NONCOMPLIANCE, PLEASE CONTACT TIARA AT 1-219-266-4754. ALSO, CONTACT THE NATIONAL HIGHWAY TRAFFIC SAFETY ADMINISTRATION'S AUTO SAFETY HOTLINE AT 1-800-424-9393.
Vehicles covered by this recall
Whether a particular car is affected and still unrepaired depends on its VIN — a model year being listed does not mean every car of that year is included. Check any VIN free on CarLogs, or at nhtsa.gov/recalls.
Is this car's recall fixed?
Recall repairs are free at any franchised dealer, for the life of the vehicle. A CarLogs report shows the recall status for a specific VIN as reported by the manufacturer — whether it's open or repaired, and whether the fix is available yet.
