Recall 95V047000
Service Brakes, Hydraulic › Antilock/traction Control/electronic Limited Slip — Mercedes Benz · reported 16 Mar 1995 · 558 vehicles potentially affected
What's wrong
THE MISADJUSTMENT OF A MACHINE TOOL ALLOWED METAL PARTICLES TO REMAIN IN THE REAR AXLE ABS SPEED SENSOR MOUNTING HOLE. THE PARTICLES CAN COME LOOSE, ATTACH TO THE SENSOR ASSEMBLY, AND FALSELY INDICATE A WHEEL-LOCK CONDITION TO THE ABS CONTROL UNIT.
The risk
THIS FALSE SIGNAL CAN CAUSE PREMATURE ABS FUNCTION AT THE REAR BRAKES WHICH COULD INCREASE STOPPING DISTANCES.
The fix
DEALERS WILL INSPECT THE SENSOR OPENING FOR METAL PARTICLES AND REMOVE AS REQUIRED.

Vehicles covered by this recall
Whether a particular car is affected and still unrepaired depends on its VIN — a model year being listed does not mean every car of that year is included. Check any VIN free on CarLogs, or at nhtsa.gov/recalls.
Is this car's recall fixed?
Recall repairs are free at any franchised dealer, for the life of the vehicle. A CarLogs report shows the recall status for a specific VIN as reported by the manufacturer — whether it's open or repaired, and whether the fix is available yet.
