What's wrong

THE PARKING BRAKE CYLINDER ROD CAN SEPARATE FROM THE SOCKET THAT IT IS THREADED INTO DUE TO DEFECTIVE THREADS.

The risk

IF THIS OCCURS, THE PARKING BRAKE WILL RELEASE INCREASING THE RISK OF A VEHICLE ACCIDENT.

The fix

DEALERS WILL REMOVE AND REPLACE THE PARK BRAKE CYLINDER.

VEHICLE DESCRIPTION:CHASSIS EQUIPPED WITH AUTOMATIC TRANSMISSION AND HYDRAULIC BRAKES. OWNER NOTIFICATION:OWNER NOTIFICATION WILL BE COMPLETED BY JANURY 17, 1997.NOTE:OWNERS WHO TAKE THEIR VEHICLES TO AN AUTHORIZED DEALER ON AN AGREED UPON SERVICE DATE AND DO NOT RECEIVE THE FREE REMEDY WITHIN A REASONABLE TIME SHOULD CONTACT FREIGHTLINER AT 1-503-735-8000.ALSO CONTACT THE NATIONAL HIGHWAY TRAFFIC SAFETY ADMINISTRATION'S AUTO SAFETY HOTLINE AT 1-800-424-9393.
