What's wrong

VEHICLE DESCRIPTION: CLASS 4 AND 5 TRUCKS EQUIPPED WITH J05C-TB DIESEL ENGINES. A FUEL FILTER WAS DAMAGED DURING THE MANUFACTURING PROCESS OF THE FILTER ELEMENT.

The risk

THIS DAMAGED FUEL FILTER CAN CRACK AND RESULT IN A DIESEL FUEL LEAK.

The fix

DEALERS WILL REPLACE THE FUEL FILTER ON THESE VEHICLES.

OWNER NOTIFICATION BEGAN FEBRUARY 9, 1998. OWNERS WHO TAKE THEIR TRUCKS TO AN AUTHORIZED DEALER ON AN AGREED UPON SERVICE DATE AND DO NOT RECEIVE THE FREE REMEDY WITHIN A REASONABLE TIME SHOULD CONTACT HINO DIESEL AT 1-914-365-1400.ALSO CONTACT THE NATIONAL HIGHWAY TRAFFIC SAFETY ADMINISTRATION'S AUTO SAFETY HOTLINE AT 1-888-DASH-2-DOT (1-888-327-4236).
