What's wrong
VEHICLE DESCRIPTION: FIRE APPARATUS CABS EQUIPPED WITH CENTER MOUNTED REAR SEATS. THE UPPER D-RING SEAT BELT ANCHORAGES FOR THE REAR SEATS FAIL TO COMPLY TO THE REQUIREMENTS OF FMVSS NO. 210, "SEAT BELT ASSEMBLY ANCHORAGES."
The risk
IN THE EVENT OF A VEHICLE CRASH, THE REAR SEAT OCCUPANT MAY NOT BE PROPERLY RESTRAINED INCREASING THE RISK OF PERSONAL INJURY.
The fix
DEALERS WILL REPLACE THESE D-RING ANCHORAGES.
OWNER NOTIFICATION BEGAN OCTOBER 14, 1998.OWNERS WHO TAKE THEIR VEHICLES TO AN AUTHORIZED DEALER ON AN AGREED UPON SERVICE DATE AND DO NOT RECEIVE THE FREE REMEDY WITHIN A REASONABLE TIME SHOULD CONTACT FREIGHTLINER AT 1-800-547-0712.ALSO CONTACT THE NATIONAL HIGHWAY TRAFFIC SAFETY ADMINISTRATION'S AUTO SAFETY HOTLINE AT 1-888-DASH-2-DOT (1-888-327-4236).
