Recall 99V302000 · manufacturer campaign 99075

Fuel System, Gasoline › Storage › Tank Assembly › Filler Pipe And Cap — Chevrolet · reported 29 Oct 1999 · 43,218 vehicles potentially affected

What's wrong

CERTAIN PASSENGER VEHICLES FAIL TO COMPLY WITH REQUIREMENTS OF FMVSS NO. 301, "FUEL SYSTEM INTEGRITY." THE FUEL FILL FITTING IS NOT PROPERLY SECURED TO THE FUEL TANK. IN THAT CONDITION, FUEL LEAKAGE WOULD EXCEED THE PERMISSIBLE AMOUNT IN AN FMVSS TEST. FUEL LEAKS MAY OCCUR, PARTICULARLY AFTER REFUELING OR WHEN THE TANK IS MORE THAN HALF FULL.

The risk

IF AN IGNITION SOURCE WERE PRESENT, A FIRE COULD OCCUR.

The fix

DEALERS WILL INSPECT THE FUEL TANK AND REPLACE IT IF NECESSARY.

Vehicles covered by this recall

Whether a particular car is affected and still unrepaired depends on its VIN — a model year being listed does not mean every car of that year is included. Check any VIN free on CarLogs, or at nhtsa.gov/recalls.

Is this car's recall fixed?

Recall repairs are free at any franchised dealer, for the life of the vehicle. A CarLogs report shows the recall status for a specific VIN as reported by the manufacturer — whether it's open or repaired, and whether the fix is available yet.
