Electrical System › Wiring — Ford · reported 9 May 1995 · 13,000 vehicles potentially affected
What's wrong
A CONNECTOR IN THE WIRING WHERE THE TILT HOOD MOUNTED LAMPS ATTACH TO THE VEHICLE WIRING HARNESS WAS BUILT WITHOUT SEALING PLUGS. MOISTURE, ROAD SALT OR OTHER CONTAMINANTS CAN ENTER THE CONNECTION RESULTING IN CROSSED CIRCUITS, SHORTS OR CORROSION OF THE WIRING OF THE CONNECTOR.
The risk
THE HEADLAMPS OR OTHER FRONT-END LIGHTING SYSTEMS CAN MALFUNCTION AS A RESULT OF THIS CONDITION INCREASING THE POTENTIAL FOR A VEHICLE ACCIDENT.
The fix
DEALERS WILL INSPECT THE CONNECTOR AND INSTALL SEALING PLUGS IN THE OPEN CAVITIES. IF THE INSPECTION REVEALS CORROSION, A NEW CONNECTOR WILL BE INSTALLED.

Vehicles covered by this recall
Whether a particular car is affected and still unrepaired depends on its VIN — a model year being listed does not mean every car of that year is included. Check any VIN free on CarLogs, or at nhtsa.gov/recalls.
Is this car's recall fixed?
Recall repairs are free at any franchised dealer, for the life of the vehicle. A CarLogs report shows the recall status for a specific VIN as reported by the manufacturer — whether it's open or repaired, and whether the fix is available yet.
